Employees at Midway Intermodal Facility in St. Paul Raise Nearly $2,500 at Pizza Party

Employees of the Midway Intermodal facility in St. Paul, Minn., raised nearly $2,500 during a pizza party benefiting Keystone Community Services.

The event involved BNSF employees and service partner personnel. Keystone Community Services operates three food shelf locations in the St. Paul area and relies on community support to supply 90,000 pounds of food each month to people in need.

“We chose Keystone because it serves the local area and we want to help those around us,” said Dennis Seaton, senior hub manager.

Midway’s service partners, including ITS, TracLease, ISS, Eagle, TTX, Skuza, TemCo, J.B. Hunt and Rail Transfer, donated a total of $1,000.

Domino’s Pizza sold pizza to the facility at half price, helping to add to the bottom-line contribution. In addition to pizza, participants could purchase tickets for chances to win 32 prizes, including jackets, shirts, flashlights, BNSF duffle bags and mugs, four $50 house cleaning gift certificates donated by S&L Team Cleaning and a $50 Target gift card. VP Food Service, vendor for BNSF, donated 10 cases of soft drinks for the celebration.

“We’re very happy with the way everything turned out,” Seaton said. “Ann Smith, an administrative assistant for TemCo, was the key to our success. She called and reminded employees about the event and kept following up.” 

A Keystone representative also made a presentation during the quarterly truckers’ meeting at Midway Dec. 18, in hopes of gathering additional donations. Quarterly meetings cover safety, damage control, truckers’ concerns, facility changes and upgrades and upcoming changes and developments.

“This was a huge team-building event,” Seaton said. “A lot of people donated and worked together to make it a success.”

Seaton also worked with Keystone Community Services to obtain matching funds from BNSF, increasing the total funds raised from employees and corporate to nearly $5,000.
