Team Gears Up for 2009 UPS Peak Season

It's that time of year again: UPS Peak Season.

As our second largest intermodal customer, UPS relies on BNSF to help deliver the large volumes of packages shipped before the holidays. In the 25-day period during last year's UPS Peak Season, BNSF successfully delivered 26,397 trailers containing 39,595,500 packages.

This year's Peak Season is 27 days, extending from Nov. 27 through Dec. 23.

The standards are high, and the goals remain the same each year: achieving perfection in on-time delivery and damage-free service. Year-in and year-out, thousands of BNSF employees work together as a team to accomplish these goals.

Good Saves

During Peak Season, employees often go above and beyond to meet the on-time delivery goal and avert potential service failures. These efforts are known as “Good Saves” and are recognized by BNSF leadership.

Last year, the team received more than 100 Good Save nominations demonstrating BNSF employees' resourcefulness, teamwork and quick actions.
